April Update

April has been a month of constant decision-making and daily action for Henrik and Sjoerd, the partners of The Hub, Hua Hin. The building is looking more complete, with the re-roofing now finished and all the walls erected, ready for the rendering to start.  To ensure the best and most reliable internet in Hua Hin, The Hub is in the process of installing two kilometres of fibre optic ( Cat6A ) cabling to complete the Unifi Ubiquiti internet infrastructure which will be supporting all members of The Hub, be they children or adults. Everyone probably understands how annoying it can be around a construction site, but 5 individuals have been less than best impressed with the nails and bolts inadvertently picked up in their tyres and causing flats in recent weeks!

The 12th April saw the first Hub expo where Henrik and Sjoerd enjoyed talking to members of the Hua Hin community about their new “baby”, as excited as proud new parents to show everyone the features of The Hub. A firm decision has now been made after extensive discussion with local parents, that will allow children studying any curriculum to participate in co-study at The Hub. While the Wolsey Hall Oxford curriculum will remain highly recommended by The Hub because staff are very familiar with it and confident of its superior quality and international acceptance, children already enrolled in different curricula will also be welcome to benefit from the sporting and co-curricular activities provided by The Hub Hua Hin.

Sjoerd has been in negotiation with a Dutch company whose name translates as GapYear.com for The Hub to become one of their chosen venues for 6-week-long international stays for young adults aged 17 to 23 years.  With venues already in Bali, Costa Rica, Cape Town and the Caribbean, Gapyear.com is keen to partner with The Hub to move into the SE Asia region. The Hub, in the T Rex precinct, is in the perfect position to provide a full-service package of accommodation, meals, sporting and life-style activities as well as community involvement to young adults on their voyage of self-discovery.  Everyone at The Hub is thrilled at the prospect of The Hub’s involvement from 2026 onwards.

Henrik has also been in detailed discussions with the software firm designing The Hub’s Portal, which will allow intuitive check-ins, facility bookings, a simple payment system and control the membership details of The Hub.  A few more tweaks and Henrik is confident it will be ready to progress from the development to the installation phase.

Looking forward to May, Henrik and Sjoerd are excited to be welcoming visitors to the Showroom at The Hub some time soon. Also in May, it is projected that The Hub will be able to announce its staff signings for the Co-study team. Henrik confides that the chosen applicants are both actually over-qualified for their positions, and looking forward to the unique challenge involved in managing Co-study in a novel environment. Due to sensitivities around the current employment of the new team members, parents will unfortunately just have to wait for the appropriate time for these announcements.

May is also your last chance to take advantage of the generous early-bird discount if you are looking to register your child for Co-study at The Hub.  Don’t miss out, contact Henrik or Sjoerd to sign up today, before the discount ends on 31st May.
