February Update
February was an exciting month for The Hub, Hua Hin. While the seminal idea was already more than a year old and Henrik and Sjoerd had already been working hard for months, February was a pivotal month for this innovative new venture.
The 4th February saw the erection of large roadside posters signalling the projected opening of The Hub in September 2025, in the T Rex precinct in Hin Lek Fai. Almost simultaneously, the project’s website, at www.thehubhuahin went live. A media release outlining the scope of the project appeared in Hua Hin Today, the city’s premier English news publication.
Response to The Hub has been strong via all channels, with greater interest than even the directors initially anticipated. People who have expressed interest in either Co-study or Co-working at The Hub have received fact sheets on which to base their decision making. An evening meeting with the other stakeholders in the T Rex precinct successfully communicated to them the imminent changes to customer flow that will be happening through the development and implementation phases of the project.
The site owner has already begun the mammoth task of renovating and preparing the under-utilised building which is to become the core of The Hub, along with several affiliated businesses including an office for the law firm 360 Consulting and a studio for Surf Radio, Hua Hin’s only English language broadcaster. Plans are also underway to recruit highly qualified and motivated teaching and assistant staff for the Co-study area, and negotiations are being finalised for a licensing upgrade with Wolsey Hall, allowing access to the program of study currently undertaken in a local international secondary school.
The Ambassador of Sweden, Mrs Anna Hammargren, along with the Mayor of Hua Hin, Nopporn Wutthikul were present at a meeting at the Municipality on 21st February, where Henrik, as Director, enthusiastically presented The Hub’s concept, to significant local and international approval. Henrik expects next month’s update to reveal further important steps towards the Grand Opening in September, 2025.
